VC’s Scholarships – Durham University

Durham University is awarding up to 25 vice-chancellor’s scholarships to students who plan to commence their studies at Durham in 2016/17. Successful applicants will be able to demonstrate an exceptional level of excellence in Sport, Music or the Arts; for example participation in sporting or musical events at a national or international level. Applicants will also be required to play an active part in Durham University’s sporting, musical and performing communities.

How to Apply:

Stage 1: Submit an academic application to Durham University via UCAS (Pleaes note that applicants do not need to be in receipt of an academic offer from Durham at the time of application)
Stage 2: Submit an online scholarship application form including the following:
Personal Statement of no more than 1,000 words explaining why you should be awarded a Vice-Chancellor’s Scholarship for Sport, Music or the Arts
A reference of no more than 1,000 words from a suitable adult e.g. a teacher at your school, a coach, the conductor of an ensemble in which you play, the director of a production in which you have been involved; explaining why you are suitable to be awarded a Vice-Chancellor’s Scholarship for Sport, Music or the Arts sent directly from the referee to scholarships.advice@durham.ac.uk. Please ensure your referee submits the reference on letter headed paper which contains their name, position, contact details and your full name.

Selection Process:

Your performance level, personal statement and references will be considered by a panel of senior members of the University with significant expertise in the area of Sport, Music and the Arts.
Guidance may also be sought from sport coaches and colleagues with musical and drama experience.
